But location quietly drives three things at once: how fast the connection is, what legal regime governs your data, and what content you can actually reach. - Measure speed and latency at different times of day, since server load varies. For regional work, aim for low ping, usable download speed and minimal packet loss.

- Check for leaks — DNS and WebRTC leaks, and whether the IP is flagged as a datacentre address, since many sites block those.
